The best Pakistani food around. Might also just be the best food around period. Make sure to put green sauce on your rice and get roti when they have it. I always order the Thursday.
It was suggested by my colleagues as a popular place to get a quick fix for Indian food. The menu is simple. You get to choose any two curries along with basmati rice and a drink for $8. Vegetarian curries are great! But the chicken curry is a joke. Other than that, nothing much to complain. Food is served piping hot and the basmati rice is well cooked. Quantities are satisfying!
A true hidden gem. It has good food, it's reasonably priced, and there is plenty of seating nearby. I will definitely be going here again.
Excellent Pakistani food. Excellent service. Incredibly affordable. Such a great lunch stop! (Closes at 2pm and isnt open for the weekends.) Shah Jees is perfect for vegetarian and vegan diets. I got the Chana Masala. Cafeteria-style seating nearby. (The restaurant is in the base of a business building.)Might be my new fav grab and go! Plus, it’s on Ritual! The pic is of an already-mixed up Chana Masala and Basmati rice — got too excited and forgot to take a pic right away.
Good place
There is no better Indian food in Milwaukee. Period. It's the best Indian I've eaten, outside of the homes of friends. The setup is very unique, in that there are the same 8 entrees every day, and you choose 2, with rice and a can of soda/bottle of water for $7. It's an extra buck for bread, if they still have it. They're open weekdays, lunch-only, and by 1p they are running out of some entrees...and when they're gone, they are gone. There are no signs, you almost have to know where you're going, and it's in the basement of a parking garage. There's nothing else like it.
Flavorful, highly recommend if spicy is your thing.
Wanted a pakistani home cooking, got it here. Downstairs of building. JazakAllah!
Flavorful, healthy, inexpensive food. Such a good option for a quick lunch.
Used to look forward to Wednesdays away Shah's but over the last several months their service and staffing have suffered. They also, and this is no small thing, run out of Roti very early, and sometimes don't even make it. I may not return.
Always a tasty lunch. You really do start to crave this place if you become a weekly regular. I recommend the green sauce for those who enjoy the extra kick. One warning though, don't expect over the moon customer service. All of the employees are good people. But show up and know what you're doing. Don't ask questions. If they give you a to-go container, just take it and don't say anything. If they're out of green sauce, they're out of green sauce, don't bring it up. If they're not doing roti, they're not doing roti. They are no nonsense. Just order your food, try to pay in cash, and then leave. You'll be lucky to get a thank you, so if you don't just forget about it and enjoy the food.
One of my favorite places for lunch! I recommend the chicken and lentils, and if you go early enough, you are usually able to get roti (they run out because it’s so good!). Prices are excellent as well.
Really delicious food. I recommend the chicken and lentils. Low key atmosphere, like a cafeteria sort of. $8 for rice, two toppings, and a drink. The guy who works there is really nice too.
You have to try Shah jees
I go here usually every Friday, and will keep going. Great food, great workers, and definitely worth the wait. Prices are a little bit higher for the content, but I suppose the taste makes up for it. Remember to ask for bread!
Decent food (good spicy level) but was expecting larger portion sizes.
This place is great. Big servings for a good price.
Excellent food, clean and quick.I'll be back...often
Good food for a quick bite.
Excellent food, simple, homemade. Can run out of food quite early with long queues. That tells you something!
The most authentic and delicious Pakistani/Indian food in Milwaukee.
I love this place. They cook the food to perfection, no wonder no matter what time I arrive there for lunch there is always a line for service. The daily deal of the day is hard to resist
Great food and price. Atmosphere is good. Wait can be a bit long but the workers are fantastic to talk to!
Rotis are the best!
Can’t believe people who have rated 5 stars haven’t had ever tried good Pakistani food elsewhere, yet! The proximity to offices is what best suits this place but the service, flavor, quality and quantity is lower than most other spots in town. The quantity of food served for the price is way too less and most of the times the curries are watery. Indeed some restaurants can serve buffet for this price when they offer two sub par curries and a spoon of rice.
Great food with a fair price. The menu is limited, but every item is tasty. Long lines from 1145 to 1230.
The food is great. But, I went with a few students and their parents. The way the man that was"helping" us spoke to me was so rude and uncalled for that the parents were appalled. A good portion of what he was saying didn't even make sense None of us will be back. Someone should teach him some common courtesy!!!
Fantastic food at a good price! Great flavor and variety!
A group of coworkers get lunch here on a weekly basis. Tuesday or Thursday specials are a good place to start (and you can get them any day, not just Tue/Thur)
Shah Jee's is a great restaurant to get a quick fix of authentic Pakistani food. This location is only open during lunch, but the food never disappoints. While the workers seem standoffish, they are all really nice. This is now one of my favorite spots in the entire city.
One of Milwaukee's hidden gems. Great lunch spot if you can make it before the line gets too long.
Awesome food great service, nice and clean.
Food is tasty. Now that prices are increased it’s not quite the great deal it used to be though—especially since, depending on the server, you can get a bit skimped on the portions for the entrees.
Shah Jee's is the secret gem of Milwaukee. Open only during the week from 11-2 (so far), it's makes you crave it that much more. My bosses took me here while I was working downtown and I had never had Pakistani food before. Now I love it. You basically walk into what appears to be a mall and go downstairs. There are no good signs to even know where you're going. Once you get downstairs you see a line of maybe 30 people (don't worry its cafeteria style, it moves quick) so you know you're in the right spot. Get in line and hope someone helps you know what to order. I usually get the chicken, chickpeas, and rice (chana masala). With a drink it's about $9, add an extra $1 if they have roti that day (you have to ask). It's fantastic, spicy, and addicting. You've been warned.
Awesome, spicy food. A little pricey for what you get but very delicious
Tasty food. Quick service. Generous portion size.
Food is very delicious and unique, sometimes make a trip downtown just to eat at Shah Jee's
Popular but nothing is special
Great food, great price.
Shah jees is a little lunchtime secret it must not be a secret because a lot of people know about it and the food is fabulous. the servants are large and you can try different kind of Pakistan food because they have combo meals as well. The combo meals come with Jasmine rice and a drink. the best time to visit for your lunch is from 11 to 11:30 or after 12:30 to one over the lunch hour it does get extremely busy. please note this is a lunchtime place only their hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. it is Indiana Pakistani lunch.Enjoy!
Very authentic. I come here all the time with my family and the atmosphere is always nice and the workers are very courteous
Great food! First time there and food was good, staff was friendly. It does not look like a restaurant I would go to because apperance wise needs some work to feel more inviting. But I was taken there and I was surprised that the food was pretty good. The quantity was not much, my boyfriend ordered the spinach potato and he got only 1 potato!
Best Pakistani food in town
Great for lunch, large enough seating for small business lunches. The food is very well spiced (flavorful) and yet not too spicy. I highly recommend the bread when the have it too.
Good, spicy fast-food Pakistani meals. The restaurant serves the downtown lunchtime crowd. I like to arrive at 11:15 to avoid the inevitable long line.
My wife and I ate there last night. Very good and exceptional service. Avoid the big chains and try this place.
Excellent food but very limited menu. Best chicken Masala anywhere.
Great taste, absolutely loved it. Would like to see its timing more convenient
Great food, and pretty fast service even with the line. Food is spicy, but still delicious. This high rating is highly deserved.
The good is amazing and a large quantity for the price. I craved this food when I moved offices
